Cathy Claycomb's
Fine Art Glass

Primary Medium

Stained glass and rolled edge glass (the sides or lead end of the sheet as the molten glass is pushed through rollers.) Characteristics of the rolled glass are lacy, bubbled or ruffled edges with a very irregular shape. Glass coloring is many times an int egral design element when joined with copper foil/solder sculpture. Solder work is very dimensional, portraying muscle, feather and texture. This glass is sought after for its individual characteristics, added dimension and beauty. Usable pieces are rare. The same qualities that required these edges to be cut from the parent sheet as unusable in traditional stained glass come together to create a truly unique work that cannot be duplicated.
